River Stone Students Updates

Escalate is next week, so please get your student signed up! Escalate is our yearly discipleship weekend and this year, we will be studying Galatians 5 together.  This is an overnight event, with the boys staying at the Ennis home and the girls staying at the Ridenour home. Students can opt out of spending the night. The Parent Information Packet is in the registration portal, which includes the schedule for students who don't spend the night. 

This year, we'll conclude with dinner at the church on Saturday evening and I want to encourage parents to participate if they can!

Ready is a two-day youth conference hosted at Spurgeon College in Kansas City. This is a high school only event and is $100 per student. That cost covers tickets and food for Friday night and Saturday. This conference is teaching-heavy, and will include at least five large group sessions in less than two full days, so please prepare your students for that. This is a wonderful experience for students excited about sitting under strong, expository preaching. We want to ensure that students are prepared to listen and grow at this event, so we will create a study guide over the theme. We are asking families to walk through this study guide and complete it before signing up.

The deadline to signup for Ready is Wednesday, November 20 so that we can get the early bird rate. And because this is a third-party event, we are requiring up front payment by that date. Registration will open next Wednesday. 

We are going to be ambitious this Wednesday and try to get through Genesis 44-45. Last week, students learned about the mercy Joseph showed to his brothers after returning to Egypt. These two chapters show the climax of our journey with Joseph, as he tests his brothers to see if they will sacrifice Benjamin for their own personal gain in the same way they did Joseph.

I would encourage you to study this passage with your student this week in preparation for Wednesday! As always, MDWK goes from 6:30 - 8:30 PM. We can't wait to see your student there!
